SuperLab is GUI-based software for behavioral science experiments.
Does that make it simpler or more limited than script-based software?
Not at all. SuperLab’s Stimulus Lists, Parameters, and Conditional Branching make even highly complex experiments easy to implement.
A single license also works on both macOS and Windows.

Randomization
 In addition to trial randomization, you can randomize the following properties:

E-Prime

Looping
 Repeat trials until a specified condition is met, making memory and learning experiments easier to create.

 No programming is required; create if/then/else flows with mouse clicks.

Go/No-Go Experiments
 | A built-in option can treat a participant’s non-response as correct, simplifying Go/No-Go experiments.

Participant Groups

Extensive Hardware Support

Supports a wide range of input hardware, from standard keyboards and mice to voice input, high-precision response pads, and MRI-compatible response devices.

Input Devices

  • Use a standard keyboard to measure individual key presses and releases or collect sentence-length responses.
  • Define response areas on screen and collect responses with a mouse or touchscreen.
  • On macOS, the built-in microphone can serve as a voice-response device. 
  • On Windows, digital input can be received through an I/O card or USB device. 
  • PST’s Serial Response Box can also be used as a SuperLab response device.

Output Devices

  • StimTracker EEG/ERP, a ready-to-use solution for eye tracking and psychophysiological measurements. 

 

  • Cedrus Response Device All Cedrus input devices  (RB SeriesLumina, and SV-1) include output lines for sending signals to external equipment.

 

  • National Instruments and Measurement Computing Use a range of NI and Measurement Computing devices to send event markers or control other equipment.

Data Viewer | View, Transpose, and Merge Data

SuperLab saves participant responses and reaction times in tab-delimited text files. Results can be imported easily into applications such as Excel. The free Cedrus Data Viewer included with SuperLab lets you preview data and perform basic statistical analyses without opening another application:

  • View multiple result files at once and run basic statistical analyses without additional editing.
  • Flag rows according to defined criteria—for example, trials whose reaction times are more than two standard deviations from the mean.
  • Export data without flagged rows and save files in formats that are easy to import into applications such as SPSS.
